I stayed in Geneva for Midsummer. Filip and Africa left already a few days before together with Sara. The EBU General Assembly in Strasbourg was the main reason I had to stay. Not a bad reason, since we had a really good assembly.
But this was about Midsummer. First I didn’t really think much about staying here, but then Facebook started filling up with wonderfully sunny pictures of the archipelago. Then I really felt I wanted to go home to Finland, for the first time since we came here in January.
But I was compensated. First by the party for all neighbours around our house on Saturday. We have this nice little open place between the houses, with a fountain and room enough for tables and chairs. Perfect for this kind of informal barbecue party.

And we had great fun. The only thing that needs to be improved is my French. Full immersion week in August is the answer!
And feasting continued on Sunday. Our neighbour “juste en face” told me this was the Fete de la Musique weekend in Geneva, so on Sunday I drove in for a stroll in the old town. Who said Geneva is dull and boring?

The streets were full of people in a festive mood. When I came a parade of Folk music artist from Latin America went through the old town and down into the parc on the other side. And when I went back to the old town there where performances and concerts everywhere. Classical music on many of the inner yards, more Latin American music on the streets.

This is what people have kept telling us. There’s lots going on in this region during summer. So more to come when we are back in August.
